Dear dharma friends,
Wishing you so well this sunny Saturday. Tomorrow night, you are invited to bring your whole self to Downtown Dharma, 7-8:30pm at Yoga District at 1910 14th St. NW. You can also join via Zoom. Masks will be OPTIONAL for this session, and are always welcome for those who prefer to wear one. (I also want to take this opportunity to invite you to an exhibit of mindful crafts I'm opening next week - info below :)
The Five Hindrances
Feeling restless in your practice, or falling asleep? Maybe you've noticed resistance creeping in, or you find yourself heading for the cookies n' cream instead of the cushion? (Guilty as charged!) You might find that when you sit, you simmer in resentment, or you doubt that this whole practice or path makes sense, is worth it, or even possible. Congratulations! You've reached the Five Hindrances. Often translated as sensory desire, ill will, sloth and torpor, restlessness and worry, and doubt. But there's good news! When we turn our loving attention towards the hindrances, they open like doors into pathways for greater ease, confidence and contentment.
Attending In Person
If you are attending in person, you will need to do the following:
a) Register through the Yoga District sign-up link -- scroll way to the bottom for (14th street) Sunday 7pm.
b) Submit proof of boosted vaccination to yogadc@yogadistrict.com or present it in person at the studio.
c) Masks optional for this class.
d) Arrive 10 minutes early (6:50 pm) to check-in. (Since we staff these events ourselves, the doors will be locked at 7:10 pm and unfortunately, there will be no one at the desk to admit latecomers.)
We ask everyone to register and submit proof of boosted vaccination ahead of time to avoid delays. Class is held on the 3rd floor, up two flights of stairs.

A dried lemon with a lime slice spliced into the middle. A buttoned-up clementine winks at you. The banana waits to be zipped up. Enjoy
Preserves, an exhibit of these and more Frankenfruits at Corcoran Flagg. Then come
Snack n' Sew your own silly and slightly morbid preserve with artist Shawn Shafner, March 24, 4-5pm in the student lounge, and March 25, 1-4pm in the Rotunda. Clementines and sewing supplies provided.
RSVP and more info here.
Please note,
