[Downtown Dharma Listserve] Re: [Downtown Dharma Reading Group] Saturday, March 6 -- Wake Life Discussion
Hi friends,This Saturday, March 6th at 5pm ET we will be discussing one of my favorite Richard Linklater films, Waking Life. Waking Life is one of the strangest films I've ever seen, at times brilliant, poetic, trite, lofty, and exuberant. As one of the most memorable characters describes, I often find myself "salsa dancing with my confusion" with this particular film.Meeting link: https://meet.google.com/fki-oano-efwSome of the questions I'm turning over in my mind (we may discuss any of them or none!):
- Are our lives dreams? What is a dream and how does observation vs interaction fit in the movie?
- How do false awakenings relate to practice? What do they mean for us, for the film?
- What is the role of resistance in the film?
- What happens at the end of the movie?
Come join us -- all are welcome regardless as to whether you watched the film. With love,Justin
