I hope to see some of you there :).  Have a great weekend!

With love,

Realizing Our True Nature
Join us on Monday, August 30, from 7:30-9:00 p.m., for meditation and discussion. We are honored to be joined this week by veteran meditation teacher Doug McGill, who will lead us in meditation and give a talk on what he calls "The Open Secret." Doug writes:

A stubborn paradox of meditation is that the very effort we put towards liberation, often becomes the biggest obstacle to achieving it. Meanwhile the happiness we seek is already fully present and available, because happiness is the very essence of our being.

In this session, we'll look at common ways we miss the open secret of our true nature as complete ease and contentment; and we'll practice how to see that essence effortlessly, to nourish it, and to live from it fully.

Doug McGill founded and for 16 years was the Guiding Teacher of the Rochester Meditation Center in Rochester, MN. In 2019, he edited "Relax and Be Aware: Mindfulness Meditations for Clarity, Confidence and Wisdom," a concise guide to the meditation of Sayadaw U Tejaniya. Since 2013 he has published "The Daily Tejaniya," a daily email practice reminder from Sayadaw. Since 2013 he has taught a six-week "Introduction to Awareness Meditation" class several times a year. He learned insight meditation from Steve Armstrong, Kamala Masters and S.N. Goenka; and the Direct Path from Rupert Spira. From 1979 to 1999 he was a reporter at The New York Times and a bureau chief for Bloomberg News based in Tokyo, London and Hong Kong.

As in the past few weeks, the sangha will be conducted both in-person at St. Mark's and online via Zoom. Join us:
